I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling, rebooting etc. nothing works since I updated to IOS 16.1.1
when I open the app all I get is “updating library”, it’s been nearly 2 days. Any fix for this?
The following worked for me … no idea why. While the app is open with the “updating library” message, go into the App Store, search for “apple podcast”, click the “open” tab beside the Apple Podcasts app and bingo.
hitting the 'open' button from the apple store worked for me, it still took a couple of minutes. Thank you!
Try deleting the app by swiping down and searching for it. Then holding the icon and selecting delete. Then redownload the app. That should fix the problem.
Thank you. This worked for me as well. I went to the app store, found the apple podcast app and clicked the Open button. It took several seconds, but the "updating library" message went away, and I could listen to podcasts again.
This happened to me! I spent ages looking up support forums and stressing about what to do, and then magically, after around 16 hours, it just opened without me doing anything. I guess I had a lot of downloads that were being updated in the library? Anyway I am pleased I didn't need to delete and replace the app, I just waited for long enough.
At first I thought I lost them all, but it repopulated for me, even the subscription based ones
I’ve also got this same problem. I want to try deleting podcast and redownloading but scared I’ll lose my whole library… can anyone say whether they’ve tried this and did they lose all their podcasts or not?

When I swipe down it doesn’t appear. I’ve deleted and reinstalled it twice from the Home Screen. Still stuck on ‘updating library’
I am encountering same issue. I have tried turning phone on/off to no avail.
If I delete and then reinstall the podcast app, will I lose my library?
I'd like to know as well. I'm pretty sure that you'd lose all downloads.

Nothing that is written here has helped. I haven't deleted it yet. would be a shame to loose all downloads. any other fix for this issue?
This worked! You still need to wait a few seconds on the updating library after hitting the open but it worked. Thanks
