Mac Mail is not learning about Junk Mail

Hi - despite marking emails that Mac Mail thought were junk, as:

  1. not junk
  2. having the sender in my contacts list
  3. having the sender as VIP
  4. checking I have the correct preference setting
  5. starting this all over at least 3 times

Emails still are being classified as Junk.

What else can I do - apart from a 3rd party app?

Thanks

Thanks for your helpful replies.

I expect on-board Mac apps to work and that I should not have to pay $48 for a 3rd party app to do what Appple says its own app should do.

Am I expecting too much?

Regards

Bryan

Yes, you are expecting too much.

Third party Spam filter is actually much better—because you are making a one time payment— you can expect 99.8% correct. It has one job to do and it does it very well, trainable, excellent customer support. Timely and always free updates with each and every macOS. You will not be disappointed.

I have been using it since 2010 without issue.

I will add it is the best one-time purchase software I ever invested in.

Thanks Leroy

I've already tried all of that and Mail is still treating some emails as junk and not learning.

Any other thoughts please?

Regards

Bryan

yes

If Junk mail is not working for you as expected you can turn it off in Mail>Preferences.

You have the option of installing a third party spam filter. ex.
