Spellcheck and correction gone. How to restore?

Like forever it seems in Apple there has been automatic spellcheck and correction in MacOS.

Now it is suddenly gone missing (particularly in Mail)..

How to restore it?

Turn spell check back on after Grammarly Desktop turned it off Grammarly for Desktops turns off the red lines that macOS puts under mispelled words. If you uninstall Grammarly, it doesn't turn that system function back on, so now if I mispell a a word in somehting like the Mail app, there is no red line. It still seems to be spell checking, it's just not marking the words. I have spell check turned on in System Preferences>Keyboard. I have turned it on in all apps that allow you to do so, but still no red lines. How do I turn the red lines for mispelled words back on please?

Spellcheck UPPERCASE The Apple spellcheck engine does not recognize misspellings on UPPERCASE words in Pages, TextEdit, or FinalDraft software, which also uses the built-in spellcheck engine. This has been an ongoing issue for several years (since 2011, at least). When will Apple solve this issue? It's a HUGE problem when using FinalDraft.

If it is just Mail, check the settings in the Edit menu while composing a new message.

Or, if it is more than Mail, check the settings in Keyboard System Prefs, Text tab.
