Apple Watch no longer lights up when I lift my arm

My Apple Watch no longer lights up when I lift my arm to look at the time. If I push the dial on the side it will flash time face and go directly to my apps. Then if i press the side dial again it will go to the time screen. I’ve searched the app and found nothing to fix this. Any suggestions?
