Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities Frt8hauler,
We see that you're not getting notification sounds when your iPhone is connected to Bluetooth. We know that it is important to be able to hear these notifications so that you can respond, and we'd be happy to help.
Just to clarify, you're receiving the notifications, you're just unable to hear the notifications when they come in, correct? If this is correct, let's have you go into your settings and toggle off Bluetooth, restart your iPhone and then enable Bluetooth and test.
If this is only happening with specific apps, make sure that you do not have any pending updates for these apps in the App Store. If there are no updates, try unpairing your Bluetooth devices from your iPhone, and pairing back again.
You can find these steps in the article below under the section titled "Unpair a Bluetooth accessory".
Pair a third-party Bluetooth accessory with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

I restored it to factory and reset everything and still wouldn’t work. I have a friend that just installed the new update and his is doing the same thing. It’s something in the new Apple software update.
Well my issues went away once Apple came out with the newest ISO update. When I called the tech support and told them what all was going on with mine of course it wasn’t nothing to do with Apple. They treated me like I was some dummy and didn’t know what I was talking about and it was a issue with my Bluetooth devices but in the end it was all a Apple issue.
That didn’t work. It was working fine before I updated my phone to the newest update. It’s like my phone is on silent when it’s connected to any Bluetooth device now. It makes no sound when I get a text message but works fine when not connected to Bluetooth device.
I have the same issue. I have 2 different Bluetooth headsets/earbud. I have tried both with the new iPhone 12 and when the Phone and Bluetooth are connected my text alert tones don’t work. And when not connected to Bluetooth works fine. Did anyone ever find a solution?
Yes. Phone has Current operating system, 14.3. Yes, it rings with normal sounds when connected to Bluetooth. Just text alerts don’t work. Two different Bluetooth brands. Plantronics and Blue Parrott.
I’ve done all those steps.
Hello Frt8hauler,
Thanks for trying those steps. From here we will want to have you back up your iPhone to iCloud or your computer. Once you've done that, restore the iPhone as new (this will wipe the iPhone, thus why we want to have you back it up first), and then test the issue.
If the issue persists, then you'll want to reach out to Apple Support.
If the issue is gone, then restore the backup from iCloud or your computer to the iPhone. If the issue is still gone, you are all set and good to go. If the issue returns with the restore of the backup, then we know it is something with your backup. At that point, restore the iPhone as new again and then load your data back on manually.
Linked below are articles to guide you on the above processes:
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings
Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Clarification. The newest iOS update for iPhones is 14.3, what is your iOS? I assume regular calls with bluetooth, sound comes through?
