Misleading emails

Why is it that I get an email saying I get 1 year free for Apple TV yet when I subscribe, it gives me 1 week?

Apple TV+ - One Year Offer - Apple

You should receive that e-mail if you recently purchased a new Apple product (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac) and you haven’t redeemed the offer yet. The offer should be redeemed within 3 months after first setting up your device. The offer should be redeemed on your new Apple device in the TV app; the process may not work as intended on a different device.


For some users, this partly automated redeem process doesn’t seem to work as intended, even if they did everything right. In such cases, they should contact Apple Support for assistance.
