Still receiving texts from blocked numbers

After I updated my iPhone 8 to iOS 14, I started having problems where numbers I’ve blocked are still able to text me, and I am still able to text them. I have double checked to make sure they are on my blocked list, I have tried to turn iMessage off, I have made sure texts are going through to my phone number, and I have looked all over the internet for an answer to this problem, to no avail. Please for the love of god tell me how to fix this, tired of getting texts from horrible people I try to block

The exact thing happened to me a few times....after you block them in contacts..you then need to do a reset on your phone...each iPhone is different as to how to reset......not a reset that wipes out your data...just a soft reset...it fixed the issue everytime...and they all were blocked..hope this helps

Remember...just push the vol up once. Then vol down once then hold power until it restarts. After you'ved block the contact....also make sure your contact has a name and a phone number listed in your contacts......if it's not in your contacts..when it deletes from recent calls...the phone doesn't know to block that number....in other words...just don't block any random number...it needs to be in your contacts so the phone knows to continue to block it..

I have had an iPhone since 2009 and have used the block feature (contacts and spam calls) for years. It wasn’t until the last Apple update installed that I started receiving both SMS messages (green bubble) and iMessages (blue bubble) from blocked contacts. I receive messages from contacts that are newly blocked as well as messages from contacts that were already successfully (pre IOS update) blocked.

The first time this happened, I unblocked the contact, reblocked the contact, and restarted my phone. Since then I have had messages from two other contacts come though.

APPLE: FIX THIS! This is your problem, not mine. I’m not an ignorant person that doesn’t know how to use her iPhone. I shouldn’t have to restart my phone every time a blocked contact is able to reach me. I have an abusive ex that has harassed me for 3 years now. I have PTSD from this. Seeing a message or getting a call from the abuser causes major mental and emotional distress.

Thank you, Apple. Now because of YOUR issue and my PTSD, I’ve had no other option but to turn off all text and call notifications, which has had a severe impact on my job. What’s it going to take for someone to listen to us and FIX THIS?!?!

Current phone: iPhone 11 Pro Max running software version 14.4.

Hello....pay attention to the thread, did you not see https://discussions.apple.com/profile/cfb58

’s thread....soft restart your phone by quickly pressing volume up, then down, then holding the power button, until the apple logo appears.

After doing that, the number finally achieved block-hood.

Hope that helps you, who don’t thoroughly skim through the thread for answers.

Same issue with iPhone 11 Pro. It’s an Android phone that is able to get through my block. This person knows how to use spy apps and all of that stuff, so I just figured this person may also know some hack to force an unblock; but after reading all your messages, I think it’s an Apple issue. Please fix this. I don’t want to read this person’s ugly, hurtful words, but if I receive it, I can’t help but read it. Grrrrrrrrrr

If the person you have blocked, has a secondary contact (Start new conversation from) they can bypass the block you have on their number, and contact you on imessage using an email (usually) while still appearing under the number you have blocked. if you cannot locate that secondary contact and block that as well, they will still be able to contact you. I’m not sure about android users still contacting you though.

My phone is doing the same thing but only for Android users. I have a contact and they will not leave me alone so I thought blocking them would do the trick. Nope. They’re still messaging me. Apple needs to correct this. I did the restart after blocking so hopefully this is a quick fix. I just need the peace of mind that they can’t contact me anymore.
