Still receiving texts from blocked numbers

After I updated my iPhone 8 to iOS 14, I started having problems where numbers I’ve blocked are still able to text me, and I am still able to text them. I have double checked to make sure they are on my blocked list, I have tried to turn iMessage off, I have made sure texts are going through to my phone number, and I have looked all over the internet for an answer to this problem, to no avail. Please for the love of god tell me how to fix this, tired of getting texts from horrible people I try to block

If the person you have blocked, has a secondary contact (Start new conversation from) they can bypass the block you have on their number, and contact you on imessage using an email (usually) while still appearing under the number you have blocked. if you cannot locate that secondary contact and block that as well, they will still be able to contact you. I’m not sure about android users still contacting you though.

Hello....pay attention to the thread, did you not see https://discussions.apple.com/profile/cfb58

’s thread....soft restart your phone by quickly pressing volume up, then down, then holding the power button, until the apple logo appears.

After doing that, the number finally achieved block-hood.

Hope that helps you, who don’t thoroughly skim through the thread for answers.

I may have found an answer - mine was a group text from 20 different numbers, none of whom were in my contacts, and none of which I recognized. I had to go down through the entire list, blocking each "caller" individually.

I also went into Settings>Messages>Message Filtering>Filter Unknown Senders and turned that on.

I hope that one of these steps solved this issue. I'll find out for sure this evening (these texts seem to always come around 10 p.m., Central time).

After you’ve blocked the number. Make sure it’s in your contacts first of all. Otherwise your phone won't recognize the number...now do s reset...do this exactly..push volume up once and release...then volume down and release...then hold the power button alone until the phone shuts off and then you see the apple restart on your phone...do not let go of the power button until the apple sign comes back on...that worked on my iPhone X.it blocked the texts and calls.....i had the same problem as you...Good luck 😊

Remember...just push the vol up once. Then vol down once then hold power until it restarts. After you'ved block the contact....also make sure your contact has a name and a phone number listed in your contacts......if it's not in your contacts..when it deletes from recent calls...the phone doesn't know to block that number....in other words...just don't block any random number...it needs to be in your contacts so the phone knows to continue to block it..
