Still receiving texts from blocked numbers

After I updated my iPhone 8 to iOS 14, I started having problems where numbers I’ve blocked are still able to text me, and I am still able to text them. I have double checked to make sure they are on my blocked list, I have tried to turn iMessage off, I have made sure texts are going through to my phone number, and I have looked all over the internet for an answer to this problem, to no avail. Please for the love of god tell me how to fix this, tired of getting texts from horrible people I try to block

I have the exact same issue today is July 13th 2021. A person (real person) I blocked is still able too text me. Apple has yet too fix this. I have been looking through the replies on here and don’t see a solid solution. Could someone help!

I may have found an answer - mine was a group text from 20 different numbers, none of whom were in my contacts, and none of which I recognized. I had to go down through the entire list, blocking each "caller" individually.

I also went into Settings>Messages>Message Filtering>Filter Unknown Senders and turned that on.

I hope that one of these steps solved this issue. I'll find out for sure this evening (these texts seem to always come around 10 p.m., Central time).

IPhones are garbage now. A lot of us are having this problem as well as having to reconnect our phones Bluetooth to the car every time we get in it. I never had these issues with my old IPhone 6 Plus. I had to upgrade because of lack of storage to the 11, but , dang, I miss that phone. My daughter x husband is on a tangent today, and I have blocked him repeatedly. The phone calls have stopped, but I am still receiving the nonstop texts.

No not restore from back up....each iPhone has its own way to reset...ie. Iphone x or newer iphones that don't have the button in the front....you would push volume up. Then down...then hold the power button alone until the phone restarts with the apple showing...it's a soft reset because you aren't deleting any info..

This is a user-to-user technical support site operated by Apple. Why are you yelling at us, we can't do this.

You can already do this with phone calls, go to Settings > Phone and turn on silence unknown callers.

You can send your text suggestion here -> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

If these are SMS texts coming in you really need to deal with your cell service provider.

After you’ve blocked the number. Make sure it’s in your contacts first of all. Otherwise your phone won't recognize the number...now do s reset...do this exactly..push volume up once and release...then volume down and release...then hold the power button alone until the phone shuts off and then you see the apple restart on your phone...do not let go of the power button until the apple sign comes back on...that worked on my iPhone X.it blocked the texts and calls.....i had the same problem as you...Good luck 😊

Same issue here. I had this issue happen once on an older iPhone. It's worked until recently. Today, I tried to block someone who is harassing me and they were still able to text me. I had to go to my carrier and try to block them that way. Hopefully it works. I hate how so many people will have an issue but it will go ignore as seems to be the case here.

Why can't we turn the problem around. Instead of making infinite long lists of people I want to block, like fund raising spammers, and they get around those blocks anyway, WHY NOT ONLY ALLOW PHONE CALLS AND MESSAGES TO COME THROUGH IF THE SENDER IS IN MY CONTACTS LIST? AND THAT CONTACTS LIST MUST BE SECURED FROM HACKING.

What you’re describing is simply ’turning your phone off, and then turning it back on’ it’s not a ’soft reset.’

Anyone, correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly certain of that.

In any case, I will try to ’restart’ my phone, to see if that enables blocked callers to actually be ’blocked.’

I’m still receiving text msgs from a blocked number and I’m hoping this will fix it.

On the iPhone X. Pressing the volume up quickly then down quickly and then hold the power button alone until it restarts with the Apple logo is the proper way to hard restart your phone. Look it up. It has worked for me on numerous times when I’ve blocked someone. The only other way is to wipe it out and that’s not the answer.
