Still receiving texts from blocked numbers

Im having this issue too, blocked numbers regardless are still able to reach out to me and harass me.. I'm assuming they have not come up with a solution to this problem? but its driving me crazy. I'm staying posted.

I’ve had to block 3 numbers today, thanks to Craigslist... two of which were iMessage blue bubbles one was a green dms so it apparently somehow is bypassing “block” and I’m still receiving these messages. I’m thankful I’m not the only one experiencing these.

If these are SMS texts coming in you really need to deal with your cell service provider.

On the iPhone X. Pressing the volume up quickly then down quickly and then hold the power button alone until it restarts with the Apple logo is the proper way to hard restart your phone. Look it up. It has worked for me on numerous times when I’ve blocked someone. The only other way is to wipe it out and that’s not the answer.

I have had an iPhone since 2009 and have used the block feature (contacts and spam calls) for years. It wasn’t until the last Apple update installed that I started receiving both SMS messages (green bubble) and iMessages (blue bubble) from blocked contacts. I receive messages from contacts that are newly blocked as well as messages from contacts that were already successfully (pre IOS update) blocked.

The first time this happened, I unblocked the contact, reblocked the contact, and restarted my phone. Since then I have had messages from two other contacts come though.

APPLE: FIX THIS! This is your problem, not mine. I’m not an ignorant person that doesn’t know how to use her iPhone. I shouldn’t have to restart my phone every time a blocked contact is able to reach me. I have an abusive ex that has harassed me for 3 years now. I have PTSD from this. Seeing a message or getting a call from the abuser causes major mental and emotional distress.

Thank you, Apple. Now because of YOUR issue and my PTSD, I’ve had no other option but to turn off all text and call notifications, which has had a severe impact on my job. What’s it going to take for someone to listen to us and FIX THIS?!?!

Current phone: iPhone 11 Pro Max running software version 14.4.

Holy cow!! Domestic violence is no joke and if I can’t block them then what am I doing??? That’s what’s going on for me BUT

i tried settings>messages> blocked contacts>add new> and I put in my spam account. Every person who texts me goes into the spam contact and then I blocked the whole contact. Still some of the numbers I put there are coming through. If they are iMessage they will be blocked from messenger, email, calling etc. then I did the soft reset. Idk if it worked yet but it’s something to try. Hope it helps you and me!

I have the exact same issue today is July 13th 2021. A person (real person) I blocked is still able too text me. Apple has yet too fix this. I have been looking through the replies on here and don’t see a solid solution. Could someone help!

What do you mean by soft reset? Like restart the phone? Or restore from backup?

Ok thank you. Gave that a whirl and hope it works. Crazy, and dangerous, that blocking someone doesn’t actually block them.

I’m having the same issue after an update. It NEVER happened before then. Apple please fix this problem

Apparently this is still an issue. Despite court orders etc. I am unable to block texts from contacts.... WTF Apple?!?
