Trade in old iphone

I’m trading in my old iPhone 7. I have an iPhone SE now. The directions from phobio say I need to remove the old phone from my iCloud Account. Do I have to do this? It seems like removing it from iCloud will Delete my SE phone since the number is the same. Thanks.

iPhone 7, iOS 13

You do have to do that or they won't give you the trade credit. Using the instructions that Phobio sent you or using the following instructions will not affect anything on your new phone. The fact that it has the same number doesn't matter. What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
