AirPods intermittently working

how do i fix my airpods? when i first bought them after three months the left completely stopped working and i can’t hear anything out of the right airpod unless the audio is all the way up, and even when it’s all the way up it’s quiet to me but everyone around me can hear it. I’ve tried resetting them and messing with settings but it never works so i think it’s the airpods themselves. I don’t have a lot of earwax and there’s no damage to them so i’m really confused why they randomly stopped working.
