Fitness app not working

The fitness app isn’t tracking any steps or workouts. The app on the watch doesn’t load and no data is being sent to iPhone. Both are on the latest versions of OS.

I have shut both down with no luck.

Hi olderyoungguy,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand the Fitness app is not loading your workouts.

Having peace of mind that your data can be accessed is important, and we'd like to help.

Just to be sure, we suggest making sure you are updated to the latest version of watchOS 7.0.2 for the Apple Watch and iOS 14.0.1 on your iPhone. If needed, here's two helpful articles with the proper steps: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and Update your Apple Watch

If the software on both devices are fully updated to the latest version, please follow these steps:

  1. Unpair the Apple Watch from your iPhone: Unpair and erase your Apple Watch
  2. On the iPhone, go to Settings > your name at the top > iCloud. Turn Health on, if it's not turned on. If Health is already turned on, please turn it on and create a backup by going to Settings > your name at the top > iCloud > iCloud Backup. Wait until the backup is complete.
  3. Verify that the backup was complete by opening the Health app > tap Profile from the top right. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and make sure it says, "Health data was last backed up at..." If the backup is not listed, wait for the backup to complete and go back in the Health app to verify that the backup is recent.
  4. Erase all content and settings from your iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Reset. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
  5. When your iPhone restarts, you'll see an option to set up as new or restore from a backup. Please select, "Restore from iCloud Backup."
  6. After the iPhone has been restored, you'll want to restore the Apple Watch from the backup. Here's how: On the iPhone, open the Watch app > Tap Start Pairing > Once the Apple Watch has been paired, tap Restore from Backup. > Choose the recent backup to restore.

If these steps do not help, we recommend to contact Apple Support. You can contact them through this link here: Get Support

Best regards.
