iPhone photos and their date allocations

I switched back to iPhone after using android for a year back in January. When I imported all my photos across they’ve all been dumped into January 2020 in my photos app. Is there any way to reassign all these photos based on their date stamp rather than their import date?

The import method must have done this.

If you can import them from the droid to your computer then use iTunes to sync them to the phone, the meta data should be preserved, and even better the phone storage space will be halved .

Photos sync is an Apple 'thing' that is different to your previous workflow.

Import to computer and delete, then sync back.
