Hard disk almost full with almost no apps installed!

Is Apple doing a Denial of Service attack on their own users? This is a security threat.

Why is it that the last update just took 10GB+ of disk space, and made it impossible to remove the built-in apps that I never use?

I just want to use XCode. It requires 30GB+ apparently now. I cannot use it even if I delete all the programs and files I added. Terrible experience.

You say you want to run XCode on what machine? Your MacBook Air 13” running macOS 10.15.something?

Having your Catalina system take up over 10 GB of your “disk” storage is normal (mine is taking about 11.5 GB, right now.)

Even with XCode on my machine, my files are taking up about 134 GB of storage. (Admittedly, over 24 GB of that is Purgeable, so the system will get rid of it, as needed.)

How small is your “disk” on your machine?

You can free up some space by using iCloud storage for at least some of your files. (I do.)
