iTunes launches whenever I remove my AirPodPro

Sometimes, when I have my AirpodPros paired with my MacbookPro (OS X 10.15.7), when I open my Airpods case or take my Airpods out of my ears and put them in my case, iTunes starts up.

What causes this? How can I prevent it?

I tried the settings > Bluetooth > options suggestion I read below, but that didn't solve the problem.

Please advise,

Amy

Hello Amymcn,

It sounds as if everytime you attempt to use your AirPods, iTunes launches automatically. We're here to help.

If the play/pause function of your AIrPod pros are utilized, then they can cause iTunes to open. More information can be found in this article: Connect and use your AirPods and AirPods Pro Let's check to see if involving that function is causing iTunes to open.

Specifically the section titled "Control audio with your AirPods Pro"

If the issue persists, can you provide more details. When did you first notice this? Has this always happened, every time you tried to use your AirPods? Also, does this issue persist within multiple user accounts on your computer?

Cheers!

I have this same issue. If I remove my AirPods Pro from my ears, when they are connected to my MacBook (typically when I've been on a conf call) then iTunes launches. First noticed it last week, probably after I updated the MacOS. Doesn't happen on other devices. I don't think it happens every time, but it does happen at least daily. OS = 10.15.7, MacBook Pro = mid-2014. Can't answer your question about multiple user accounts since my Mac has only one.
