Photos support for Canon R6 raw files

I know they were just released, but I was disappointed to find out that I can't import raw files from my new Canon R6 into the Photos app. I was unaware that each camera produces it's own version of .cr3 files. I thought they were universal. Anyone know how often Apple updates their raw file support?

Hi

The answer is "not very" and normally as an update to MacOS. The difficult thing is they never say if or when they will support a particular camera.

While you wait, your best solution is probably to convert your CR3 files to DNG (Adobe's digital negative format - also a raw format) using their free converter.
