iCloud full > can’t shrink the Purple Bar (Backups)
Hello,
Could you please assist me with making space in my iCloud? The purple bar is for “Backups” and nothing I do shrinks it.
When I go here “Settings > My Name > iCloud”
The only items that I have turned on are:
Contacts
Calendars
Reminders
Home
Health
Game Center
Everything else is unchecked to include photos, mail and messages.
Then I click “Manage Storage” and I have only 3 items:
Backups 4.4 GB
Health 73.5 MB
Siri
Then I click “Backups” and the only device listed is my iPhone XR.
Then I click on my iPhone:
When I select Backups:
Last Backup (now, just deleted it and backed it up it up 4 times)
Backup Size 4.69 GB
Next Backup Size 74.9 MB
I have everything under that unchecked.
From there I scroll to the bottom and delete my backup. Easy.
***** When I delete my backup, the “Next Backup Size” becomes something like 4.8 GB.
***** THIS IS THE PROBLEM!! LOL. It should only be 74.9 MB. But it changes to 4.8 GB.
When I log in to icloud.com, I can click on my settings and I can see the giant backup bar taking up all the room but I can’t do anything from there. When I click on Photos, it’s empty.

^ This article touches on how the backups work but does not explain why my purple backup bar is so large when I have nearly everything unchecked to be backed up to the iCloud.

^ This article explains the difference between device storage
and iCloud storage but once again does not explain why my backup is large when
nearly everything is unchecked.
Thank you in advance for your assistance,
