iPad Update

If tech guys say that I cannot update my iPad2 to higher software than 9.3.5, then what can I do now so I can download Youtube Apps and others that require higher software versions?

You biggest issue is that the iPad2 is a 32-bit architecture device - whereas all models of iPad after iPad4 are all 64-bit devices. All 32-bit Apps have been withdrawn from the Apple App Store.

64-bit Apps cannot be installed on 32-bit devices. As such, none of the Apps that can be obtained via the App Store are compatible with your iPad.

The iPad2 was launched by Apple over nine years ago - in March 2011. Update support ended in September 2016.

If Apps that you need to use now have higher minimum iOS-version requirements than your iPad and installed version of iOS can support, your only option is to replace your iPad with newer model. Of current iPad models, even the entry-level iPad8 supports current iPadOS 14 - and has hardware specifications and that vastly outperform your old iPad2.

Some web-based services, such as YouTube, can be accessed from a web browser - however, this route often has dependency on the browser itself meeting minimum requirements. Until very recently, for YouTube, there was as third-party “portal” service (invideo.us) that was able to play YouTube content and overcome browser limitations. The service was closed on 1st September of this year.

In conclusion, your iPad2 is obsolete. Few, if any, Apps remain compatible with iPad2. It really is time to replace this very old device with a more recent, or current model, iPad.

I hope this information is helpful to you - if only in improving your understanding of the fundamental limitations of your iPad2.
