Restoring iPod


My daughter's iPod Touch 5th Generation locked up because she forgot her passcode. I have tried to restore it, but it has been unsuccessful. I have connected the iPod to iTunes, but it keeps saying try again. Since it is older, I am not able to update.

Assuming its the lockscreen passcode follow these instructions:

If you forgot the passcode on your iPod touch, or your iPod touch is disabled - Apple Support
