Issue with screen recording in Microsoft Teams

Hi there,


I'm using a MacBook Pro (2019) with macOS Catalina (Version 10.15.7).


After I updated to the latest OS version, I started having problems with Microsoft Teams' desktop app. I'm unable to share my screen there because:

We need permission to share your screen

Go to Security & Privacy > Screen Recording to give permission and start sharing.


It used to work before I updated to the latest OS version. I haven't changed this setting.

What I tried was:

  • disable/enable setting for Teams
  • clearing Teams' cache
  • reinstalling Teams


None of those worked. The other app which is allowed to do screen recording is Google Chrome and I'm experiencing no issues with it.


Please help me to solve this problem as I prefer using Teams' Desktop app instead the web one.

Nope, using Teams on fullscreen doesn't solve the issue as most of the team this is the way I was using it.


However, today a new macOS update has been released. Just installed it and noticed that I screen sharing in Teams works.


Hope it'll stay like that.

That’s the issue, none of those help and using it via a browser works ok.


Still no fix for that bug, unfortunately.


Another bug:

  • Sometimes my laptop is connected to internet via Wi-Fi BUT Teams says “No internet connection.”, which is so annoying — not everytime restarting the app helps (a MacBook restart may be required).

Hello. Good to know that it's not a local one then... Looking forward they releasing an updated which fixes that bug because it's so annoying... When you need to share your screen, you can use the web app instead -- it works there at least (as the screen sharing goes through the browser).

Hi,

Found this thread as I'm having the exact same issue. (finally) updated to Catalina (10.15.7) last night (28/10/2020) and now today Teams (1.3.00.28778) won't share my screen - whereas it did previously - despite prompting the 'Security and Privacy' popup the Teams app does not appear in the 'Screen Recording' panel. I've tried everything previously said, unistall, reinstall, restart computer, emptying cache etc and I cannot prompt the app to appear.

Contingency plan is to use the screen share in the web app as Chrome functions normally and does appear in the App panel.

Hey Joro - me again - I was doing some more rampant investigating, happened on this thread which didn't seem immediately relevant (https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/376605/mac-catalina-and-microsoft-teams-screen-sharing-permissions), however, there is that last comment about putting the Teams app in fullscreen and then attempting to share and when I did that it gave me the prompt in a different style and it did indeed add Teams to the 'Screen Recording' panel and I have been able to successfully share, let me know if it works for you!
