Website restrictions And allow website option

We use the screen time and website content restrictions on this iphone and have discovered that whether you use the limited adult websites option or the allowed websites only option that when you put in a site that is never allowed for example www.twitter.com it comes up with the message Safari cannot open this page the URL was blocked by content filter. But then say for example you put in www.instagram.com you get a message that says you cannot browse this page Instagram.com because it is restricted and then right below that you get a (blue) clickable option that says allow website. If you click on the allow website the page closes and it appears that you are restricted but then if you go back into Safari it opens up that page and puts that previously restricted website into the allowed websites. Is there a way to disable the allow website option Otherwise the restrictions for web content really do not work.

Actually this should do the job but it does not. You can put these restrictions on but there is a option in blue that comes up allow site, when you click it kicks you out to home screen but if you immediately go back to safari it will open that site even if it is on the never allow list and it puts it on the always allow list. This phone is in my family share but it is not a child phone it is an adult phone. I was on the phone with customer support for over an hour before getting disconnected and they could not solve the issue either. Still hoping for a solution.

Howdy L Fairburn!

It sounds like you've been able to override the website restrictions that have been set up in Content & Privacy Restrictions. We don’t blame you for seeking a solution and we'd be glad to help.

Let's start here: Use Parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Content Restrictions, then tap Web Content. On this page there is an option for NEVER ALLOW. When you add websites to this list are you able to follow the steps that you've listed and override the restriction?

If not, we want to mention that this page specifies, "Depending on the access you allow, you might need to add information, like the website that you want to restrict."

Let's try these steps.

We hope this helps!

Enjoy your week!
