Even the new version of the digital AV multiport adapter does not pass enough power to the the 16" macbook pro.

I run a triple screen setup and utilize most of my ports and this adapter is the only one that can pass power through. But the battery just drains and dies. I removed my networking dongle and directly attached the power cable and it charges fine. Please update this adapter for adequate power

Hello Sam,

Charging your Mac is extremely important, and we want to ensure it's charging as expected. When using an adapter you may experience a decrease in charging speed, or the Mac not charging at all. When charging the Mac it is recommend to connect the charger directly to your Mac.

You can find more information in the article Charge your MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3.

Have a great week!

Hi @ManJor

I just updated to the Macbook Pro 16" . The way I had it setup totally worked on older models ( I have gone through a few). Also this recommendation doesn't seem to be right when the adapter itself is advertising a port (a physical port) just for passthrough power. Are you telling me thats just for show?

For all the old macs the adapter seems to pass sufficient power, but the new mac needs more and the adapter just doesn't seem to have been updated, thats all.

I actually found another post in the community that put up power characteristics and complained about the same thing.

Hello Sam,

While the adapter allows for power to pass through and provide power to the Mac. If additional accessories are connected, that can decrease the power going to the Mac. You may also notice a decrease in charging, or not charging if the adapter is used with a Mac the that may require a higher wattage charger. That is why it's recommend to connect the charger directly to the Mac itself to ensure it is charging properly.

Take care.
