Exfat drive, missing files, Sort of?

I have a drive formatted in exfat which I have happily been sharing files between windows 10 and Mojave, with no issues whatsoever, until Catalina.

under Catalina, I can read files and write files to/from the exfat drive, but any file written to the drive by Catalina cannot be found under windows 10, it is just not there. However, if I boot back into Catalina, it is still there. Files written under windows 10 can be seen under Catalina.

I have tried hidden files etc, but no luck. The ultimate test for me was to write a file under windows 10 to the drive that had the same name as the one in Catalina. It does not tell me that the file exists, easiest way is to download the a file under Catalina then download the same file again under windows, that way the name, size, date etc stays the same, but still no overwrite warning.

any ideas anyone?

10.15.6 and 7.

I think that I was wrong, if I recall rightly, it did happen once or twice with the latest version of Mojave.

I recently formatted another drive as exfat in Catalina and copied everything from the other exfat drive to it. A file that I had written to it earlier that couldn’t be seen in windows and was replaced in windows, threw up a file exists error, but there was only one copy to be seen in Catalina?
