iPhone heating up

I’ve been using the iPhone 11 for the last 7 months, and since the charger that comes in the box is really slow I decided to get the 18W USB-C Power Adapter.

What’s interesting is my iPhone heats up when I plug it in and DON’T use it, whereas if I use it while it’s charging it doesn’t heat up at all. I’m just really really curious if others have faced this with the fast charger and why. Does the power input decrease if I start using my iPhone while it’s charging?
