You cannot transfer an editable iMovie for Mac project, as opposed to a standalone movie, to iMovie for iOS on your iPhone. However, you can transfer an editable iMovie for iOS project to iMovie for Mac.
A movie shared out from iMovie for Mac can be transferred to your iPhone with the AirDrop feature, if AirDrop is enabled on both devices and the devices are within 30 feet of each other. The movie is a standalone file that can be edited only on a limited basis. Once you have transferred the movie, you could import it into an iMovie for iOS project where you could trim it and split it, and add titles, but the clip can not be converted back to its original editable form.
