Family Sharing of iCloud Data

I currently have 2Tb of iCloud storage, as does my partner. We each use less than half of our data. We have family sharing and it would make more sense to share one lot of 2Tb storage. I am worried what will happen to his stored data if he simply accepts the Family Sharing of data and cancels his subscription. Will he keep the stored files?

Yes. His data stays where it is on iCloud under his Apple ID. It is simply a change in billing to a shared plan. See the following for more information: Share an iCloud storage plan with your family - Apple Support
