iPhone XS Max camera (front and rear) face detection, and flash not working.

I need some ideas here, how can this be a hardware issue if the front and rear camera failed at the same time? Running iOS 14.1 after a full reset and restore. I think the problem happened just before the update but part of the trouble shooting was the restore and update to the latest iOS version.

History- first face detection stoped working, tried all the steps for that issue, disable, re-enable, reset faces but I kept getting the error "face detection not available, try later". the next day I noticed that the actual camera, front and rear was not working, just a black screen in the camera app. I checked the flashlight/flash and it also does not work.

After trying the easy fixes like disable voice over, and restart apps and the phone, I backed the phone up on my Mac, did a erase/reset to factory settings and reload from back up and no change.

Any ideas? I keep thinking that if it was one camera or the other it could be a camera. having both quit at the same time including the flash is puzzling to me.
