Incomplete Apple TV+ listing

On my iPhone and iPad the Apple’s “TV” app displays all the shows that are available on Apple TV+ with all the subcategories like Emmy-nominated shows, new shows, series, documentaries, coming soon. Everything is there. Such was also the case for a few weeks on my Apple TV device. But all of a sudden I started only seeing two or three shows depending on the day. If I want to watch another instalment of a series I started watching, I have to perform a search. I hoped tvOS 14 would have fixed that but it is not the case.

Moreover, when I return to a show i am watching on Apple TV+ like “Ted Lasso”, the app doesn’t display what was the last episode seen, so I have to remember it when I am finished watching.

Am I the only one having this issue?

Apple TV 4K, tvOS 14

I see what you mean. I’m not currently watching any series on tv plus to know. It was working on next episode the last time I used it, months ago. I’ve been watching other channels within the TV app, which do work.

It keeps changing how it works. It will always change something you’re used to, after a software update which I suspect is when you noticed a change,.

Thanks for your reply Vancouver22.

You are correct that content layout changes with devices but the issue for me is that the content showed for TV+ on the same device (my Apple TV) used to be much more complete and that overnight it dwindled down to almost nothing (yesterday I had barely five shows on the list). Before, I could return to a TV+ show I had started viewing and easily pick it off again to continue watching. Now I have to perform a search, which was not the case before.

As for the Up Next Queue, it still works well (“Up Next” has always been turned on in my Apple TV device settings), but only outside the confines of TV+, meaning if I buy a series (let’s say The Good Doctor), the TV app will show me which episodes I have viewed and offer me to continue watching from where I left off. But inside TV+ that feature is broken and the app always offer me to “start watching the first episode” of a series (let’s say Tehran) even if I have viewed several episodes of it.

The content layout keeps changing for me on various devices

As to your continue watching where you left off. This should be in your Up Next Queue in the Watch Now Tab. Be sure to have that enabled in your Top Shelf settings:

In Settings> Apps> TV app.

Under the Home Screen section> Top Shelf- Click on that to use “Up Next” instead of “What to Watch”

The next episode should be your next one to watch
