All systems GO! Relaunched the Finder, Restarted the iMac and the iPad and the appropriate window popped up and. my backup completed without a hitch. Thanks again for your help.
After rebooting both the iMac and iPad, the sync process worked perfectly. I didn't realize I was running Windows OS! LOL Having to reboot every other day to get it to work...
What messages are you getting? Are you able to take a screenshot and reply back?
Have you tried another Apple charging cable or another port on the computer?
I have the same issue. iMac 27" OS 10.15.7 original iPad Air iOS 12.4.8. I back up my iPhone 11 and my iPad every week. Today the iPhone backed up just fine. When I try the iPad, this is the error "The iPad “iPad Air” could not be synced because the sync session failed to start." Attempted multiple times, each time receiving the same error. Any ideas? Can't imagine it's a cable or port issue.
You'll need to use Finder if you're having trouble finding your iPad on the Mac.
