iwatch could not able to update

I am facing an issue while updating my iwatch with latest version iwatch 7.0.2. After downloading it says "preparing". after long time (around 20 to 30 mins) it says "Unable to Verify as you are not connected to network". I am using high speed broadband internet. I am trying this for last 2-3 days without luck. I did it in the night time also. Did a reset and tried again. No luck. Please help to resolve this issue.

Hello Iwatc,

We appreciate all the steps you've tried so far.

Let's continue with completing the additional steps here: If you see 'Unable to Verify Update' when updating Apple Watch

If you're still seeing the same error, connect to a different Wi-Fi network, and updating.

Cheers!

Not sure IF Apple did something BUT finally worked. This is what I did:

  1. Reset/Erase all data from Watch
  2. Unpair
  3. Restart phone
  4. From your iPhone, disconnect from wifi
  5. From your iPhone, open Watch app and try Install
  6. Restart Watch
  7. Reconnect to wifi (phone)
  8. Plug Watch to charger
  9. Open Watch app and try again the installation.

Sounds odd BUT it worked for me. Hopefully helps.

I currently have the XR and started with the iPhone 4. Along with my iPad and Watch S5, I think this will be my last Apple products. I bought into Apple due to the closed environment and cohesive ecosystem which was supposedly to offer reliable ownership. Their software should work on their hardware, right? But it seems each update breaks something that used to work. My previous watch update caused increased battery drain and I was looking forward to the 7.0.2 update to fix that but now I can’t get it to update. This is a pretty widespread problem online yet the only thing Apple can offer is canned suggestions which we’ve all tried by now. Frustrating is the nicest way to put it.

Hello Iwatc,

We know it’s important to keep your Apple Watch updated, and we’re happy to help.

Have you updated your iPhone to iOS 14.1? If not, please follow these links:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

On your iPhone, tap Settings > General > Date & Time. Verify this is set correctly, and Set Automatically is turned on.

Please try force restarting your Apple Watch. Follow section “Force restart your Apple Watch” here: How to restart your Apple Watch

On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Look for the watchOS update. If it’s present, delete it, then try downloading it again.

We look forward to hearing back from you. Have a great day.
