Problem setting up my MacBook Pro with a Samsung CHG90 49" 32:9 monitor.

Hello I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports), 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB (sorry wanted to be specific) and I am trying to hook it up to my new Samsung CHG90 49" Monitor but the highest resolution I am able to get is 3840x1080 when I should be able to get 5120x2880 at 60 Hz.

Unfortunately my monitor does not have a USB-C connection so I cannot do UCB-C to USB-C with my Macbook so it that would have been the solution that is unfortunate.

I have tried display port to usb-c and HDMI to usb-c directly and through a CalDigit TS3 Plus with no luck. I also made sure my MacBook Pro was updated completely.

Is there any fix to this? Any suggestions?

That 2017-2019 MacBook Pro 13-in {7th gen Kaby Lake, 8th gen Coffee Lake} can not connect to displays wider than 4096 pixels wide with ONE cable in the current MacOS software.

Displays wider than 4096 requires two cables AND picture-by-Picture enabled in the display itself.

Some say the beta version supports wider displays with one cable, but Beta features are never guaranteed to make it into the final released version.

Should it work automatically if I connect it to my 16-inch MacBook Pro? I just connected it to it and it still shows all weird and stretched out.

That is likely cause by [√] Mirror displays. This setting causes a compromise resolution (between the built-in display and the external display) to be used.

Once you turn OFF mirroring and set that display to its "Best for Display" setting, it should look great.
