Hi, my MacBook suddenly shut down, and will now only run when connected to the power source. Battery is at 1% and not charging. Battery life had been fine up to this point, and only has 430 cycles. Is this a battery/hardware issue, or a software problem? Have performed SMC reset, no change.

It could be either one, but the SMC Reset ought to have fixed the latter.

Make sure you're using the correct USB-C cable: Find the right power adapter and cable for your Mac notebook.
That's pretty much all you can do.

Thanks for you reply, none of the links make any difference though. I should have added I've always used the original power adapter, and I was using the MacBook on battery power of around 50% when it just went black, and now will only run off the power adapter. Just seems weird that the battery would suddenly die like that with no warning, never experienced that in any electronic device.
