How do I fix the "Unidentified Network" thing on windows 10 bootcamp, and the "Self-Assigned IP" thing on MacOS

I'm trying to use a powerline adapter with ethernet on my MacBook but whenever i use the powerline adapter on the windows side of my computer I get the "Unidentified Network" thing instead of a successful lan connection. And on MacOS my thunderbolt ethernet cable has a self assigned IP for some reason. I have tried connecting to lan without the powerline adapters and it worked but i can't just have a really long ethernet cable going across my house. It could very easily be a problem with my powerline adapters but i have no real way to test to see if my powerline adapters/lan cables are just faulty.
