My Projects in Photos

Is there a way to copy just the "my projects" library from a photos file and then restore it to a newly downloaded phots file?

You cannot export projects as projects from a Photos Library.

If you want to move projects to a new library , it will be a lot of work.

  • Duplicate your Photos Library in the Finder
  • Then open the duplicate and delete all photos, that are not uses for the projects. Remove them also from Recently Deleted.
  • If you do not want to save the albums and folders, delete them as well.
  • Then make the weeded out duplicate your System Photo Library and make it your iCloud Photos Library.
  • Wait for your photos and albums to download back from iCloud.

Why do you need new copy with your projects? Is your current library not working?

It is safer to create a separate library for each project. Then you can archive it separately and do. to risk to delete accidentally photos, that are used for a project.

Wow that's a good idea.

Is it possible to just create a new system library that downloads direct from iCloud as my main photos library and keep the old one to be able to access just for the projects?

I'm just not sure how to instruct photos to key off of the non-"system" library so that I could access the projects that way…

My problem right now is that the photos have been "restoring from iCloud" for like a week and not making any progress. Also there's a file or a library called "unable to import" they are now that has a whole bunch of photos and they just won't reload back into the main photos library. So it's kind of driving me crazy.

Thanks!
