resetting passcode on new SE gen 2 which is not backed-up

Do I need to have iTunes installed on my HP laptop windows 10 using Microsoft edge AND Windows Chrome to reset my passcode. I have followed the instruction's three(3) time.

Can see the usb in the directory.

Stay there for about 15 minutes then disappears probably timing out like I read.

Can't get apple phone to populate under portable devices.

I've restarted laptop multiple times.

Must be missing or overlooking some key item.

The only way to reset your passcode is to restore your phone to factory settings. See—>If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support or watch this video:

If you don’t have a backup and you didn’t sync to iCloud you will lose all of your content. Backups should be made before you need them.
