Apple ID problem
So I need to change my Apple ID password but I need to change my trusted phone number and it won’t allow me to I really need help

What happens when you try to change the phone number? Error message(s)?
You need to change/add the number on your Apple ID. After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime on all devices/computers.
