wireless keyboard with iPad?

I was wondering if I could use the wireless keyboard I have for my iMac with my iPad?

You should be able to. It would be especially useful if you have a dock. You can put your iPad in the dock so it's upright and sync your wireless keyboard with the iPad. Then you have your own mini desktop.

From a help article...
"Follow the instructions that came with the Bluetooth accessory to make it discoverable or to set it to search for other Bluetooth accessories. This may involve entering a passkey or PIN (Personal Identification Number).
From the Home screen, choose Settings > General > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on. iPad searches for nearby Bluetooth accessories.
Choose the Bluetooth accessory, and then enter a passkey or PIN.
Bluetooth headset: Refer to the documentation for the headset to determine the passkey.
Bluetooth keyboard: Type the passcode displayed on the iPad on the keyboard and then return.
When pairing is complete, you can use the Bluetooth accessory with your iPad.

Hi,

Why you say so?

I found the below page and it shows that the old white apple wireless keyborad IS SUPPORTED by ipad. Could you help to check if there is anything wrong? Thanks.

Apple Wireless Keyboard (2003): Features a white case and uses four AA batteries.

In addition, many third-party Bluetooth keyboards that use the Apple keyboard layout are also compatible. Check with the keyboard manufacturer for additional information.

You may have posted instructions but John_S had problems pairing the device. So I posted a link to a video that shows you have to unpair the keyboard from your imac before you can pair it with your iPad. The person above me mentioned the unpairing but didn't say how to do it so I posted the link on how to do it.

edit: I just realised you were replying to John_S but your post wouldn't have helped anyway because his iPad wasn't discovering the keyboard.
