system preferences opens on startup

Every time I power up my iMac, the System Preferences window opens. This phenomenon seems to have begun with a recent Catalina update (maybe two updates ago?). Anyone else experiencing this and know how to make it stop?

(Yes. I have the computer set to reopen windows, but I always close this one.)

Peace.

Hey erbrill,

As we understand it, the System Preferences window keeps opening on startup, despite you closing it prior to shutting the Mac down.

If that's correct, it may be set to open automatically on startup. Take a look at this article: Open items automatically when you log in on Mac.

Review the list as outlined in the article, and remove System Preferences from there if you see it. If the issue persists after those steps, feel free to reply to this thread, and we'll proceed from there.

Take care.
