I uploaded 5 videos taken on my iPhone 11 plus max to ivideo running on Catalina. Joined all 5 together as one movie but could not share as two of the videos were showing a video camera logo in the corner stating that the data was on the phone. If I switched my phone of those videos went blank. Have re uploaded four time but each time with the same result. Any ideas why

The air drop worked but I also cleared out old media to make space just in case. Completed the movie this morning. Thanks for your help

Usually when you get the camera icon and a message that the data is still on the phone, that means that the export never completed. That can happen if one disconnects the phone or other source device before the export has completed. Or it could be some corruption in the video clip that is blocking the export, or perhaps insufficient space on the destination drive. Check to see if any of the above might apply to your situation.
Also, try using the AirDrop feature to export your iPhone videos to your Mac, and from there you can drag them into iMovie.
