My imac is totally frozen after the latest system security upgrade (10/2020). I've rebooted in safe mode and in recovery mode. Run disk utility and reinstalled from the base disk (os x base system). Still frozen. No peripherals attached. Any suggestions?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

If you have tried booting in Safe Mode without success and erased the drive then reinstalled macOS without success, then you have a major hardware problem.
