When I try to open Safari on my Ipad, Google Chrome opens instead

How do I get the iPad to use Safari (instead of Chrome)when Safari is what I try to open? I am a super-newbie.

If you have iPadOS 14.x installed, you can set the default browser of your choice. I speculate that when installing the Google Chrome browser, you have inadvertently set this to be your default browser.

If you prefer set the much superior protection of the native Apple Safari browser, designed for privacy, as your default:

Settings > Chrome > Default Browser App - set Safari
