Apple series 3 watch does not work with iPhone 11

Hi,

I have 2 apple series 3 watch which I bought last year. It has been more than a year so they are out of warranty.

1) 1st apple watch is on iOS version 5.0.2

2) 2nd apple watch is on iOS version 5.3.8

and 2 iPhone 11 are on the following iOS versions

1) 14.0.1

2) 13.6.1

I have been trying to pair them on each phone respectively. However, no luck. I also went to the Apple store and spend 4-5 VALUABLE hours of mine to get it resolved. All I heard was "This is hardware issue but we have a deal for you. Trade your watches for $85 each and we will give watch SE for 160 with 3 months of warranty". What I really learned from this conversation was "Value of Apple products depreciates very quickly. I paid about $500 a bit more than a year back and now the value is $170. Is this how really how apple works ? Make sure the product stops working after a year so warranty does not cover it and request customers to buy apple care (or apple car+) or make then buy new products. I would really like this issue to be resolved rather than providing trading options to trade and spend more money. This is not fair from customers' perspective. If this is how apple wants to make money, this is a pretty bad tactic. I bet soon you will start loosing customers as more customers realize the bigger picture here.

Anyway, I would hope Apple would do something to resolve this issues here as I am not the first customer whose having this issue. There are a lot more out there (read about the issue on different communities and different people). Moral of the story is "I have decided not to buy Apple watch anymore"

Do you have access to an iPhone, that still has iOS 12 installed?

If yes, try to pair the Apple watch to this iPhone, to install watchOS 6 on the Apple Watch.

After that, unpair the watch for the iOS 12 device, and pair it to your iPhone running iOS 13 or 14.

Did you already try to remove the watchOS update file, as described after step #4, in this article?

...

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure that your Apple Watch connects to its charger
  2. Restart your Apple Watch. Press and hold the side button until you see Power Off, then drag the slider. To turn your watch on again, press and hold the side button.
  3. Restart your paired iPhone.
  4. Try to start the update again.

If the update won't start, open the Watch app on your iPhone, tap General > Usage > Software Update, then delete the update file. After you delete the file, try to download and install watchOS again.

Learn what to do if you see 'Cannot Install Update' when updating Apple Watch.
