colored mail flags not syncing between mac and iphone

This is for sure a bug that is global. I have iCloud email on my Mac and iPhone. Both using native Mail App. Flags are good for like a day or two and then all red red randomly on the phone. Mac holds the color. This is an iCloud issue.

Things I have done that don't fix it....

Switched from iPhone 11 to 12 - both have same issue.

Rebooted in safe mode on Mac - not an issue on Mac but support had me to this anyways for reasons. didn't fix anything.

added and removed iCloud from phone and Mac.... Huge headache and didn't solve a thing....

This is an issue on the apple side not you. They need to fix this. Also happens on my iPAD.....

We see you are having some trouble with flags not syncing their color between your iPhone and Mac. We know how important it is to be able to sort your emails fully to keep things in order and we are happy to help. Is that email setup as an IMAP account in Mail on your Mac? Add an email account to Mail on your Mac. Also have these flags ever synced their color between this devices? Or was this the first time you have tried to get that working?

It’s interesting; I had this problem early in the iOS 14 beta, but it has been resolved for me for a couple of months. Do you have a problem with iCloud, or only with other email providers? Some email providers don’t support color selection for flags.

Just iCloud. Only one I use. Flags are fine on the Mac but don’t work on for extended time on iPhone 11 iPhone 12 or my iPad. All updated. After a 2 hour support call no help either. Just the typical restore stuff but this isn’t a local device issue clearly.

Have you updated to iOS 14.2?

Yup didn’t fix it either.
