Is it possible to back up my Mac if I can’t get passed the password screen?

Can you back up the Mac if you can’t get past the Password screen.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

You will need to Login to setup a backup. To reset your iMac's Login Password,

see > https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/reset-your-mac-login-password-mh35902/mac


If you do not currently have good backups in place, then you need to use Time Machine on an external drive.

And/or use either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to make bootable backups on a second external drive.
