Photos displayed on Apple TV are washed out

My Apple TV correctly displays video content, including HDR on my TCL Roku TV. However, my photos in Apple Photos and iCloud, which display correctly on all other devices (Macbook, iPhone, and iPad), appear dull and washed out when they are displayed on the Apple TV as a screensaver.

Is this normal? Is there a way to display photos on Apple TV correctly?

Howdy, cbderksen!

We understand that you're having trouble getting your Apple TV to display full-resolution versions of your photos as screensaver.

To start with, we want to make sure you have updated your Apple TV to the latest version of tvOS, which you can do here: How to update your Apple TV

Can you also confirm for us if this happens with any photo you try to set as the screensaver or is it only with specific ones?

However, if you're still having issues after checking that try using Display Accommodations and see if that makes it better: Use Display Accommodations on Apple TV

Let us know if this helps,

Cheers!

I believe that my photos display in the correct resolution - the problem is the colour. The pictures lose their vibrancy and colour saturation when viewed through the Apple TV, but appear correctly on other Apple devices. This happens with ALL my Apple Photos viewed on Apple TV through iCloud/Home Sharing (but not the Apple TV screensaver photos provided by Apple). I know I’m not the only one with this problem - it’s been mention by others in the support forums, but no one has posted a solution.

My Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and Roku TV all have the latest software updates.
