I’ve recently got my new ipad (7th gen) and when i go to storage, the bar is not color coded like it needs to be... it just expands and returns to its original shape, is there something wrong with it?? how do i get the color codes back?

Good luck. I have been talking to Apple Support about this same issue since November 17th. Brand new iPhone 11 and still have no color bar even after rebuilding and restoring the phone from new. Same issue on my iPhone 8 after iOS 14 update. After almost 2 weeks of back and forth they claim it's a software issue. That I can either keep trying "factory resets" to "see" if the colors come back or "just wait" for a software update that will hopefully rectify the issue that apparently a handful of users are having.
my phone is new and it’s updated so many times AND ALSO it’s saying I have full storage (I’m on vacation right now) but last time I checked it was only 34 GB that I used and now it’s full

I did restart the device but the problem was still there.

I can confirm this. Deleting the shortcuts app leads to this issue.
I also have the same issue, perhaps it’ll be fixed before IOS 15 or something...
I had this issue a while ago then I updated to 14.2 if I remember and it worked. Looks like this bug has creeped back and will need to be fixed by Apple.
So in conclusion don’t delete the shortcut app! 😂

Very nice testing methods! Huge help! I had my issues solved once I updated but I won’t delete the shortcut app by mistake now and just throw it in the app drawer.

Yes as long as you don’t delete the shortcuts app. On iPhone you could just put it in the app drawer and soon iPad OS will have an App drawer also.
