open water swim gps accuracy

I’ve seen old posts on this subject but no current ones so I’m opening my own discussion.

I recently bought a series 3 watch swayed by the claims that it would track your route during open water swimming. My experience is that it is wildly inaccurate. Seeing similar posts over the last few years this is plainly an issue. How is it Apple is allowed to promote this feature that does not work?

I of course wish I had seen these other posts before purchasing my watch but I believed the Apple hype.

Inaccurate Swimming tracking two weeks ago my Apple Watch 7 started counting my swimming distance as double of what they were. It was shortly after the latest update. I am consistent, so I know within 1-2 laps how far I swam. Did anyone else have this problem. I have followed apples steps to make sure all app sharing and personal data was correct. Is my Apple Watch not able to handle 4-5 hours a week of swimming?

Apple Watch 7 - open water swim We understand is not GPS but the accelerometer that calculates distance. We understand that water and radio signals don't go hand-in-hand. As HUMANS, before and after the swim (allegedly when starting and ending the Activity) the watch should have a GPS signal. A time lap has occurred in between. WHY not using those two info and adjust total distance to a correct one screw is about 30% of the distance today !! OK to grant the detection points, estimate the splits, and so on... but gee 30% of the total distance is HUGE (2/3 of a mile "detected/accelometrically", 1 mile total distance ) . .. otherwise don't ask yourself why are people switching to other OS/devices... If we use your watch , we are multi-purpose medium human beings: we are not Olympians! FIX THE BASICS

Watch Ultra Open Water Swim GPS Accuracy Problem Dear Apple community, I have been using the Apple Watch Ultra for two months to track my daily open water swim sessions. I live by the Aegean Sea, the weather is almost always perfectly clear and without clouds. Ultra performed perfectly accurate swim distance measurement every day for the last two months. However, for the last 5 days, it's not performing and measuring at least 500 meters extra every swim session. I usually swim around 1,5-2 kilometers with a pace of 1:50/100m. Now the Ultra is recording extra distance that I didn't swim and thus also recording my pace as 1:10/100m which is impossible for me. This is such a let down and disappointment. I bought this device just for the purpose of tracking my Open Water Swim sessions accurately. It worked well for the last two months but now not anymore and I have no idea how to get this fixed. I suppose it's not hardware but a software problem? I suppose it might have happened after the latest Watch OS software update. I don't know. Apple we need your support asap! Anyone else having the same issue? (I swim together with a friend who has Watch 6, and his device has been recording perfectly accurate...)
