Screenshots saving to clipboard instead of to file

My screenshots are saving to the clipboard instead of to file on the desktop. How do I make them save to the desktop again? I'm on a 27" iMac running Catalina.

Press the shift+command+5 keys which will bring up the Screen Shot utility as a floating toolbar just above your Dock. It will have an Options panel where you can select the Save to location as your Desktop. This is sticky, so shift+command+4, or shift+command+3 output will also subsequently write to your Desktop.

You can dismiss the Screen Shot panel with the esc key.
