How to update to WPA 2 (AES) WPA3
Windows, Windows 10
Your WiFi infrastructure devices (e.g., your WiFi Router) must be capable of supporting specific security standards - such as WPA3. Devices themselves also need to match the security requirements of the network to which they connect.
Newer client devices with recent versions of hardware and operating system may be able to support the most recent WiFi Security protocols (WPA3). Many recent devices will be able to support WPA2 AES-PSK.
Older standards, such as WEP and TKIP, are insecure and have long ago been deprecated. These standards should not be used.
In summary, both your Router and client devices can only operate together at the lowest common denominator. Client devices cannot use a newer (more secure) security standard than the network, to which they connect, can support.
If you WiFi Router or devices cannot be configured to support the required security, you might consider their replacement with equipment that meet the standards that you consider to be the acceptable minima.
