mail on ipad changes my “default email account” setting when sending

IOS 14.0.1

My default mail server is not iCloud. I have several addresses in my preferred server account defined with one of them as default. When I send an email the from field displays the correct default address. However, the iPad changes the From field to be another address in the list before sending it. This error probably started after the last update. How do I fix it?

Hello MikeV2020,

We understand that emails are not sending from your default account on your iPad. You’re in the right place, we’d be glad to assist in seeking a solution.

It sounds like you have the setting correct as mentioned in: Change the default web browser or email app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If so, please try force closing the Mail app, and try again: How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch,

If that doesn't work, follow the steps here to update to iPadOS 14.1: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care.
